Simply put, when you don't volunteer, there is a need in the church not being met. You are important! Every person has talents and passions that have been given to them. The Bible says that the church is a body, and every piece of the body needs to be working together to have a functioning church. That means every person has a different role to play, and that means that you can help with your special, unique talents.
Does the Bible tell me to volunteer?
Yup! As a matter of fact, it does many times. 1 Peter 4:10 states, "Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms." Basically, you have an ability to help advance the Kingdom of God in a unique way, and you are told to use it to serve others. What better way to help others than to do so in the church? Our mission is to bring others to God, and you can become a part of that mission when you choose to use your talents to help advance the church. Other scriptures include Matthew 5:14-16 and Acts 4:33-34.
How can I volunteer?
You can volunteer by signing up with the form below and telling us where you would like to serve. We'll get you in contact with the leader of the ministry you chose and you'll be serving before you know it! If you know the leader of the ministry personally, you can also contact them directly. If you are not sure what ministry to sign up for, you can fill out the "Volunteer Experts" form at the bottom of the page and we'll help you to identify your unique gifts and talents and where you would fit best at Awakening Church. Please be aware that working in some ministries may involve a background check.
Do I have to volunteer every week during service?
No! In fact, we at Awakening want our volunteers to be on a schedule rotation so that you can still attend service several times a month. Just submit your schedule preferences when you volunteer and we'll make sure to add you to the rotation. We also have volunteer opportunities that do not meet on Sunday mornings, just in case you can't volunteer then or you just love to sit with your family every week.
I'm busy. Can I still volunteer?
Of course! We have volunteer opportunities that fit all different kinds of schedules. Even if that just means you come in to the church on your day off and help us with some tasks or planning. We love our volunteers and are willing to work with all different kinds of talents, passions, and schedules.
I don't know where I should volunteer. Can you help me?
Absolutely. Different people have different talents, abilities, passions, and schedules. If you want to learn more about where you should volunteer, you can start by taking a spiritual gifts test. These tests pinpoint your unique, God-given talents that can show you what you can be doing to advance the Kingdom of God. Spiritual gifts tests are easy to find free online. After that, if you are still unsure, you can fill out the form at the bottom of this page and one of our VOLUNTEER EXPERTS will get in contact with you and help you get placed where you need to be. Be ready to tell them what you enjoy doing, what your schedule is like, what your spiritual gifts are, and what you are excited about in your life.
